Here is just a small selection of our guests reviews

Thank you so much for your lovely Stone’s Throw Cottage.
We’ve been able to hand feed the kookaburras and Rosellas and have shared many private happy moments with family and friends.
Thank you again for all your kindness. We will certainly return and will recommend you to all our friends.

Dearest Margaret,
What a beautiful quaint cottage this is! We had a splendid stay! Totally immersed ourselves in the tranquility, which is something that’s a real luxury back home. Love the little touches you placed all around the cottage (the chocolates, the tourist information, the gorgeous breakfast, the little bowl of birdfeed, and countless more!) It is indeed very difficult to leave. Thank you for this experience. Felt like I was part of “Anne in green Gables” 🙂
You take care and see you soon!

With warm wishes,
Danny and Audrey

Dear Margaret,
WOW, what an experience. You were so welcoming (nothing was too much trouble) Lovely B&B with too many extras to mention. Yummy treats to eat and comfy bed…. along with the “Puffing Billy” experience …you made my husband’s birthday one to remember for a long time. And we can’t wait to tell all our friends and family.
Warmest regards,
Vaughn and Jenny
PS Keep doing what you’re doing – Excellent!

Hello Margaret,
Enjoyed our brief stay in your lovely cottage. The Kookaburras, Currawongs and late afternoon Crimson Rosella’s were great fun.
This morning, early, we went to the forest and had a good, if brief, view of the SUPERB LYREBIRD – every birder’s dream!  Thanks again, Chris, John and Barry (UK) p.s Great breakfast too!

Dear Margaret,
Thank-you for sharing your piece of Paradise with us! The cottage is a cosy and very cute haven of tranquility – such a welcome respite from the Rat Race! It would be a pleasure to recommend “A Stone’s Throw” to our friends and family.
Wish we never had to leave! Thanks for your hospitality.

We had a great stay and enjoyed the extra touches. This place has a subtle magic we won’t forget and the kids loved feeding the birds.
Thanks for everything. Phil and Sandy     I loved the WizzFizz and loved feeding the birds. The birds had so many beautiful colours! Thank you!, From Hannah (aged 10).     I loved the wizzFizz but my sister copied what I said about the WizzFizz. Anyway I loved this place…it was awesome. From Tom (aged 7)

Such a great cottage…very warm and cosy with all you could want. Missed the bords – will see them next time. Margaret took us on a tour of the Dandenongs!!
Thanks Margaret

Thank you very much! We loved the cottage. The kids especially enjoyed the little extra’s – WizzFizz, kookaburras and cockatoo! Loved the fireplace – it kept the cottage warm and cosy!
Thanks again,
Daren, Julie, Lily and Jack

Stone’s Throw Cottage has been a haven of peace and tranquility. We have spent nearly three week’s here, in two stretches of ten days.
We wanted to be near our son and his family in Belgrave Hts…but also near enough to shops and restaurants to walk to.
This place has been ideal. Wonderfully comfortable and convenient in it’s lovely secluded setting surrounded by green, green trees and shrubs.
Margaret could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Perhaps she also arranged that during our month in Melbourne we would have the most wonderful weather, apart from a few days, with the temperature mostly in the mid-twenties!

Thank-you Margaret,
A wonderful setting that provides nourishment for the body and soul.
Will recommend this cottage to all

Thank you for a gorgeous, welcoming and luxurious place to stay.
This was our first holiday in over 5 years and our first with our 2 1/2 yr old daughter.
Your beautiful cottage was perfect… just like your hospitality.
The towels were soft, the bed comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and breakfast provisions were Decedant!
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be returning!!!
We loved the “special” touches e.g chocolate for each of us, wizz fizz for Madalyn, the vases of fresh flowers and the bowl of fresh fruit.
I could fill this book with how happy and special you made us feel.

I am a writer and have stayed many times. The cottage is very comfortable and clean (love the gas fire), , in a beautifully tranquil setting and Margaret the host is friendly and helpful.  Looking for a relaxing stay? Stay here. 6 Stars!!

Stones Throw Cottage My family had a lovely two-night stay in this cottage. The cottage was nicely furnished and well-maintained, the owner very friendly and welcoming. Only a short walk from Belgrave and Puffing Billy, Stones Throw Cottage makes an excellent base from which to explore the beautiful Dandenong Ranges and I heartily recommend it. 5 Stars

We stayed here for a night (family of 2A & 2C).This is a very private and cozy cottage. The place was clean and the beds comfortable. My kids were so excited about the loft beds and the cockatoos and kookaburra that flew into the balcony.

The breakfast basket provided was simple but sufficient and healthy to our likings. The Owner, Margaret was very thoughtful and helpful and she really made us feel at home. The location was great….near to shops and the Belgrave Puffing Billy Station. Could not have asked for more. 5 stars

Stone’s Throw is a very warm and inviting place to stay. Easy to find, very friendly greeting by Margaret and the kookoburra’s. It’s in a peaceful area, felt like we were all by ourselves. Amenities were great, loved the big bath, very clean :0) Everything we needed was supplied, Couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you very much for everything.

A very pleasant stay in a beautiful cottage. Lots of privacy and quiet and it is a good location to walk to restaurants in Belgrave. Will defenitely come back. It was great to have some feed to give to the kookaburras and parrots that came to the cottage.

My partner and I stayed at this cottage for 4 days and we loved it. It was like a haven and a retreat. The owner could not be more accommodating of our needs and very honest and friendly. I would highly recommend this incredible place. I didn’t want to leave the cottage it felt so cosy.

We wanted to stay a night in the Dandenong ranges. Most of the cottages requires 2 nights min. stay. But this cottage allows 1 night stay. We had a pleasant stay. The cottage is fully equipped. I definitely recommend this cottage.

I cannot rate this property high enough!!!My Mum and Dad just stayed for three nights at this great little cottage. My family used to run a motel and I used to work as a Hotel Representative for a wholesaler so we are pretty critical when it comes to properties. If you want a fantastic quiet location walking distance to shops/station and Puffing Billy but feel like your in the middle of a forest and in a georgeous cottage with lots of privacy…. this is it. The cottage is ten star. All little extras have been thought of that you wouldn’t expect and I can guarantee no disappointment. Great alternative to staying in the city as nice little retreat on the outskirts of town and train goes direct to city-walking distance but you wouldn’t know it it’s so quiet-you’ll just hear birds and possums. Belgrave is a lovely area in Melbourne. I live locally and my family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. They were very comfortable. Great property for all travel types couples, families, business people great versatile property in a very serene area. Very high standard of accommodation. Enjoy your stay!!!”

Your home is 10 star!!!. You have thought of everything for your guests and your property is gorgeous. Thank you !!

A cosy little cottage within easy walking distance of the belgrave shops. Bush surrounds make it a peaceful getaway from the city, while being only a drive or train ride away.”
